Just 4,800 bottles of this 21 year old Authenticus are released annually, this BenRiach whisky exudes a dark peated power and well balanced sweetness with underlying wood notes.
Nose: Very aromatic. Peaty, a little medicinal. Balancing sherry sweetness, dried fruits, oranges. Resinous.
Palate: Chewy, woody, ash. Smouldering embers, good sweetness, black pepper. Aniseed, peat.
Finish: Oily delivery, still smoky, but there is a sweet woody quality as it fades.

The first time I've tried Speyside peated whisky. Wow it's good. I am so glad we can still find these in Asia. Not so cheap anymore, but worth the dollar. I love spice and vanilla, and peat is not so medicinal. Next I want to try 25, but a bit pricey.

Yes! Got hold of this on an auction site and even at the much higher auction price this whiksy is worth every penny. I especially agree with the 'sweet woody quality' mentioned in the tasting notes. But I also get alot of spice on the palate, just the way it should be.

Yes, it has indeed been discontinued and replaced with the Authenticus 25 Year Old, a more powerful expression than the 21 Year Old. --The Chaps at Master of Malt

Has this been replaced with the 25 year old Authenticus? - the implication from the distillery is that it has.
Has this been discontinued in favor of the 25 year old? I believe it implies this on the BenRiach website.
