Benriach 12 Year Old Reviews

More peaty than expected

I’m a great fan of Benriach, particularly the glorious 20 year-old and, as a perfect ‘daily’ tipple, the good old Heart of Speyside. This 12 year-old obviously falls between the two price-wise but somehow leaves me disappointed. The flavours seem a little ‘false’ and there’s a kick of un-welcome peatiness that’s absent from other expressions. Perhaps the 10-year old will be more to my liking.

Exquisite

Reinvigorated my love of Speyside single malts, so much so I'm now addicted to the brand!!, can recommend the 10 year old too...

Absolutely delicious

This last week I have been on holiday at The Fortina Hotel in Malta. One evening was in bar for a drink and ask what malts they had. Shown 10 & 12 yr old Ben Riach, choose large latter. I was very impressed finding it warm, spices and also woody. Loved it.

This is

Real speysider. Very smooth, very light. Rich vanilla and honey nose. Fresh.
If you like smooth whisky you must have this one. The excellent combination of price and quality.

Not good

Nowhere near as good as the BenRiach Maderensis 13 year old or BenRiach Heredotus 12 Year Old. It's a shame both of them have been discontinued

A pleasant experience

I am by no means a whisky expert but I know what I like. This to me is a lovely subtle smoky drink and pleasantly sweet.Well worth the money

Wait till the 2nd round.

I read some of the reviews and thought what? I must not have taste buds. Apple, peach, chocolate, red fruit? I taste Scotch. A Scotch that takes a 2nd round to appreciate fully. It was kinda strong at first. But by the second round I could taste the peaty scotchy goodness. Also not a wallet buster.
