This highland malt was distilled at Ben Nevis in June 1967 before a 45 year maturation in a single refill hogshead (number 9559). It was bottled at cask strength by Douglas Laing in February 2013 as part of their Director's Cut range. An outturn of just 169 bottles.
Nose: Vanilla and raisin with nutmeg and furniture polish. Milk chocolate and caramel.
Palate: Cinnamon, almond, polished oak and chocolate orange.
Finish: Orange peel, cinnamon stock and gentle oak.
Overall: A dignified malt, excellent at 45 years old.
