Balvenie 17yo DoubleWood Bottling Note
Like the famous 12 year old expression this Balvenie has been matured in two types of cask, the key difference this has been given an extra five years of cask ageing. A great release for 2012.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Warm Acacia honey and green apples on the nose leading to warm winter spices, vanilla and honeysuckle on the palate. The finish is gloriously long with notes of vanilla and honey.

Fantastic
Bought at a grocery store in St John. It is fantastic! Went back and they said that was their only bottle so bummed about that.

Is it the best scotch I've tasted?
Hefty price for most of us, but worth every penny if you lash out and get a bottle. There are much more expensive, more mature drams, but this is an exceptional Speyside. Lovely combination of honey, vanilla and slight spice with a hint of oak.
If you can afford it, and if it's still available buy and enjoy.

A great, smooth dram.
After a cold bike ride I needed some warmth.
Turn the thermostat up or try one of the miniatures sitting in the cupboard. Opted for this and wow, what a lovely dram. Warm, easy to sip, no harshness, just smooth whisky nectar. It’s been a long time since I had Balvenie but it won’t be so long until the next drop. On my birthday list.

Just not for me
I can see why people rate this. However it wasn't for me. I got the vanilla and strangely some chocolate orange. Unfortunatly I felt the oak was overpowering in the finish and had a burnt toast note to it. There is cheaper, better whisky out there!

Maybe its me and not this awful brew
Nose: The most tepid...lemon...yes lemon...nose...17 years old...really.
Palate: This is truly terrible. Like being face punched into your Grandfather's spitoon.
After: It might have died, but maybe it the palate that distracts.
