Balvenie 10 Founder's Reserve
A great 10 year old from Balvenie. Founder's Reserve is Whisky Magazine Recommended, Michael Jackson suggests this might be the most "honeyish of Speyside malts".
The nose is medium-bodied with notes of marmalade and rosewater, honey and spice with a gentle smoky note. The palate is sweet and spicy with notes of lightly sherried peels and acacia honey. The finish is long and viscous with plenty of spice and sweetness.
My 1st Balvenie
It was this whisky that got me hooked into the single malt universe...It's a shame that it was discontinued, and as others have said - it's better than the 12 yr DBL Wood.

One of the stupidest things of The Balvenie was to stop the production of this wonderful piece of craftmanship.

I much prefer the 10 year old to the Oakwood 12. Has been my favourite Mmalt.

A while since I drunk the founders reserve but when I did it was a great malt plenty of body sweet with a very long finish far better then the double wood that replaced it. I have two bottles from 2007-8 left could not believe the price now £200 for bottles I paid £20 to £25 for I will not be drinking these bottles in a hurry
