Baby Blue Corn Whisky Bottling Note

This is the first Texan whisky, as well as being the first whisky to be distilled from blue corn! When we first tried this we thought it was wonderful, though very "different". These days it's become a firm favourite, along with the rest of the craft distillery's fantastic releases.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Soft vanilla and notes of candied peel. Caramelised bananas, toasted oak and a little creamy cereal sweetness.

Palate: Rich, thick, palate entry. A touch of dark caramel and baked apple. Baking spices, salted butter.

Finish: Spiced, medium finish. Quite sweet.

Balcones Baby Blue Corn Reviews

Truly Texas

A smooth almost silky example of the distillers art and skill

New (ish) but needs tweaked and we need morse specials in all lines. In the U.K.

Viscous oily and it has a nutty flavour with a BBQ corn/nut flavour. It’s very easy drinking has a slight kick at the end but it’s very viscous especially after drinking a lowland single malt in comparison. I think that this has great potential for long ageing in a French brandy barrels. It’s lacking layers but has all the ingredients for an American icon (never a classic because these guys are trying a new approach classic and I’m fully onboard however it needs the input of a Scotsman and my feeble nose is never going to trump the nose of a man who has 5 or 6 of generations of distillery mangers or warehousemen in his family.

Very rare find and worth it!

Wonderfully smooth!

Different and enjoyable

I really enjoyed this. The nose reminded me of rich tea biscuits with butter and a light vanilla.
The palate too was sweet but with a nice warming spice. The finish was long and sweet with a slight licorice note coming through.
Different and very enjoyable

Great finish

I saw another review that said they were let down by the finish of this whiskey. I wholeheartedly disagree. The finish is smooth and begs for another sip! Love Baby Blue.

Good. Refreshing

I don’t know why these people are saying it tastes like tequila. It tastes nothing like tequila. It’s a little sweet. It’s really nice for hot weather. Refreshing.

Not for every day, but good for a break from peated Scotch

Really nice. Moving between different Scotch whiskies and decided to try something from my home state that isn't Scotch. Glad I did. Carmel corn in a glass.

Loved it.

Don’t understand all the negative reviews. I’m glad I enjoyed it immensely before looking to see how it rated. Very nice and smooth. Lots of vanilla.

Love this Whisky! Why?...Because it's Different!

I loved the aroma and the taste matched the smell. It is different. It is suppose to be different. It doesn't have a strong alcohol smell. It doesn't have a peat or charcoal taste. If you are a bourbon drinker that wants your bourbon to taste the same no matter what bottle it comes out of, then this is not for you. It is a blue corn mash whisky. It needs to sit and breath a little while. Take in the aroma and then enjoy it neat. Don't add water! Don't add it to a mixed drink! Just enjoy it!
