Aultmore Wemyss 1991 Bottling Note

This single cask release of fantastic Aultmore whisky comes from the Edinburgh bottler Wemyss, so of course it has a delicious name to go on the 354 bottles. This 1991 expression is called "Sweet Mint Infusion" and it's already making our mouths water.

Sweet Mint Infusion 1991 - Wemyss Malts (Aultmore) Reviews

Mint it is.

At first, this didn't do anything for me (I tried a 3cl sample). Found it to be a bit generic- Speyside average and I couldn't smell or taste mint. Thought that maybe Wemyss had missed on this one or maybe there is a reason Aultmore is largley a blend distillery. But I went away and came back about 10 minutes later, added a few drops of water and had a few salted peanuts. My gosh it opened up. A wash of mint came out and some lovely notes of grassiness. Light and absolutely lovely. Very very sorry there isn't a bottle to be had.
