Aultmore - Batch 5 Bottling Note

Here's the fifth batch of Aultmore single malt Scotch whisky bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! As ever, the label features a Velociraptor battling a Shark. Why? Because although Aultmore make some lovely whisky, no specific tales about the distillery jumped out at the Boutique-y chaps, so instead they simply made the label design the most awesome thing ever. Velociraptors seem to be quite "in" at the moment, what with that dinosaur movie that came out (you know, the dinosaur movie, with all the dinosaurs). However, don't think for a second that this shark will let the velociraptor get the upper hand just because they're hip. This shark means business.

Batch 5 is a release of 216 numbered bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, single grains, bourbons and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Buttered malt loaf developing into ready salted crisps, green Fruit Pastilles and sugary vanilla cream. A hint of wet grass appears after a minute.

Palate: Continued grassy hints open the palate, moving on to spiced apple (think cinnamon and white pepper). Cedar and dried apricot on the mid-palate.

Finish: Vanilla and oak spice last, subtly reminiscent of a bourbon...

Overall: A good early evening dram with a light, airy character to it.

Aultmore - Batch 5 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) Reviews

The colour is light and straw like in appearance and when rolled around the glass is quite syrupy.

The nose is more sweet than I expected with notes of vanilla, almond, pear and a slight aniseed note. There a hints of lemon, orange and a floral note in the background.

The flavour has notes of roasted grain, lemon, pear, unrefined sugar and orange peel. There are hints of vanilla, clove and a slight note of rose water in the background.

The finish is long with notes of citrus zest.
