Aultmore 12yo 2009

Hailing from Speyside's Aultmore Distillery, this splendid single malt spent a dozen years resting in a single refill sherry butt between 2009 and 2022. The fantastic news is, that cask found its way to us here at Master of Malt. Or did we find our way to it? We'll never really know, but it was definitely meant to be. Independently bottled by yours truly, releasing a total of 219 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Robust malt leads to bready yeast, Custard Cream biscuits, and crusty sourdough. Stewed pear, brown sugar, and sweet tea wind throughout.

Palate A soft start, with a slow build of delicate spices, creeping on the edge of the palate, cushioned by oily barley. Baked apples and pears appear, bringing a reminder of spiced apple tealoaf.

Finish The spices come forward to take a bow at the end with peppery warmth, while caramel sweetness coats the palate. Green apple and apple sweeties linger.

I've been really good, can I have

Reviews for Aultmore 12 Year Old 2009 Single Cask (Master of Malt)
Not bad
Totally reasonable whisky given the price. Tastes a bit green, but not bad at all.

Spicy pears
The tasting notes are pretty much on point here.

Bargain value (as this thing takes water)

Pear note more than Apple for me, some good spice too.
