National 12YO early '80s Bottling Note

This is a bottle of National Choice 12 Year Old blended Scotch whisky, launched in 1980 by Eadie Cairns (owners of the Auchentoshan distillery 1969-84). The label features the legendary racing horse Red Rum and is signed by his famous trainer Donald 'Ginger' McCain. The label seems to have been sealed with varnish, presumably to preserve the signature. A lovely collectible for whisky fans and racing enthusiasts alike!

A big thank you to Mr. Duffy who sent us some additional information regarding this bottling, as well as some copies of pics from the launch. Red Rum was actually in attendance, as well as Don McCain and Celtic FC footballers Murdo Macleod and Peter Latchford!

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
