A Claxton's bottling of some rather well-sherried single malt from Auchentoshan in the Lowlands. This was distilled in October 1991 and left to mature in a single sherry hogshead for 26 years, before being bottled with an outturn of just 217 bottles.
Nose: Damp oak and forest floor notes arrive first, swiftly followed by intense blackcurrant and milk chocolate sweetness.
Palate: Raspberry jam, honey and hints of white pepper. A touch of classic Auchentoshan floral-y malt sits in the background.
Finish: Lingering sherried spices.
