A choice Auchentoshan, distilled in 2001 and independently bottled in 2014, 12 years later. No chill-filtering and obviously no colouring was used when bottling this classy dram. 372 bottles were produced.

I tried this bottling at a fair in Germany and didn't hesitate to buy one. Very fruity (apples), lemon cest, vanilla and hints of almonds. I don't know why and how the other comments werde posted...strange!!

Lowland malts are among my all time favourites, with the three remaining distilleries all capable of producing high quality and complex whiskies. I purchased this bottle along with Speysiders Benrinnes and Braeval. All 3 were from the Hepburn's Choice range which I had not tried before. I tried the Braeval first and it was simply awful, spirity and thin. Hoping this was a one off or a rogue cask I then sampled the Benrinnes and Auchentoshan. To my great disappointment I found all of them to be spirity, thin and lacking any distillery character. There are many excellent examples of these distilleries out there both Official Bottlings and Independent Bottlings. I would stay well clear of any Hepburn's Choice in future.Robert Swinhoe
