This is the second batch of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's small-batch, cask-strength whisky from the Isle of Arran. It's a deliciously coastal, malty, citrusy single malt, typical of the distillery.
Each bottle is adorned with a hand-drawn illustration of the artist, Emily Chappell, and a friend on an ill-fated kayaking trip. The label depicts the two shipwrecked on an island, signalling desperately to the Waverley cruise ship (which runs from Glasgow to Arran). You'll note the eagle in the foreground - a reference to the nesting eagles which postponed the building of the Arran distillery during the 1990s!
"Shimmers like the sun reflecting off the Sound of Bute... from the right cask, one of the truly great distilleries of the world."- Jim Murray (95 Points)
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, bourbons, blended malts and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.
This is Batch 2, with a release of 459 numbered bottles.
Nose: Citrus and spice on the nose, with hints of salted butter, nutmeg and malt loaf.
Palate: Malt and orange zest, with hints of tropical fruit, creamy vanilla and digestive biscuits. A hint of marmalade and cocoa.
Finish: Long finish with dark chocolate and fruit.
Overall: Delicious creamy and malty!
