Arran 14 & Tasting Glass Bottling Note

A bottle of the excellent 14 year old Arran - released in 2010 to replace the 10 year old. This was finished in a mix of fresh bourbon and sherry hogsheads for two years before bottling, and the result is fabulously fruity and sweet. This comes with a handsome tasting glass - perfect for enjoying an after dinner malt!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Aromatic and spiced with creamy bourbon notes, and sultanas. A touch of vanilla, coffee bean and tropical fruit, over a backdrop of crisp malt.

Palate: Coconut and orange peel, juicy barley malt, apricots and creamy toffee. Easy-going and delicious with just a hint of salted butter.

Finish: Long and sweet.

Arran 14 Year Old With Tasting Glass Reviews

One of the best whiskies I have tasted

This one is rather difficult to find, even without the tasting glass, but if you do find it, buy as much as you can! This one and it's younger brother also won the Queens Award for Excellence - and one sip will quickly reveal why - it is superb. It is certainly very fruity and in my view, ever so slightly peaty - more like sweet liqourice and definitely slightly salty giving it that Island feel. When faced with the 10YO and 14YO, initially, the 10YO appears to live more up to expectation, but it is the fiish and roundness where the 14YO so definitely wins over. It is lovely, oozing in quality and above all, very difficult to put down!
