The second batch of the Arran Malt 12 Year old Cask Strength enjoyed a maturation in sherry casks, 17 of them first-fill sherry butts and 4 second-fill sherry hogsheads, enhancing the classic Isle of Arran distillery style of sweet fruit single malt whisky with a oak spice spark at the centre.
Nose: A good dose of sea spray, followed by the sweet notes of maple syrup and tropical fruits.
Palate: Oily and mouth coating, with green apples and hints of dark chocolate and coffee beans.
Finish: Succulent dark cherries followed by an amazing duo of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Overall: Another cracking Arran Malt.

Received this as a birthday present from my father who is a HUGE fan of the Arran malts. I have enjoyed The Arran Amarone cask multiple times and it is fantastic. A well respected distillery. As for this malt, it is wonderful. I love cask strengths. So much flavor. Fruity, some smoke and spice but mainly fruity and sweet. I do not like to add water and really enjoy a decent burn from whiskeys. This one in particular is nicely complimented with a small amount of water however. If you like full bodied, spicy and fruity whiskeys you will enjoy this. Slainte
