Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Biscuity, fruity, fig-rolls, herbal, Werther's Originals, almost pepperminty.

Palate Biscuit and fruit, citrus, malt perks up now, slightly tarry, toffee.

Finish Apricot, spicy, blackcurrant tea. Sweetness.

Overall Very good, full bodied stuff!

Reviews for Amrut Single Malt Cask Strength Whisky
Not nearly good enough
There are some pleasant flavours in this whisky, there's some peach initially and red apple, it's sweet and there's a hint of Turkish delight in the finish.
However, it's possibly the thinest feeling whisky I've ever tasted, and on the nose to me it smells a bit like strong Jack Daniels. There's a lack of complexity and the spirit smells young.
Non of those things are really a problem on their own, especially as age doesn't really matter given how amazing some young whisky is. But at £68 at the time I bought it, it needs to be massively better than this. I'm still actively annoyed at this as I drink it because there are so many incredible whiskies out there in this price range and tons for much much less money. Please don't buy it.

Not my Cup of tea
This whisky is certainly loaded with flavor on the front end but it is a unique flavor that I am not especially fond of.

A worthy rival to the home of whisky
Those who think Whisky is only good if it's from Scotland will have a biased view of new Whisky.
Me I go by taste and how it makes me feel. Amrut scores high on both fronts. Wonderful aroma warm down the throat and a fantastic sense of calm in the after taste. Found this is Edinburgh and was hooked. still love my Scotch but this is on par if not above most from the "home" of whisky

Expect different, get different - glorious.
I usually drink Islays, the occasional Highland and one Canadian when I can get it. I bought this expecting that it would not taste like any of those and indeed it doesn't. It is simply the smoothest, warmest, most beautifully complex whisky I've ever tasted. My daughter and son-in-law were bowled over by it. My son-in-law tried his regular Islay afterwards and nearly spat it out.

Beautiful cask strenght whisky
Aged in new and old American oak barrels this is a very malt driven whisky, bottled at cask strenght uncolored and unchillfiltered.
Aimed at the whisky connoisseur as an opportunity to sample this Indian treasure undilluted straight from the barrel.

The aromas and flavors are very rich and glorious full of barley cookie dough toffee almond apricot and mint.

I absolutely love the nose on this and it is a very beautiful and exotic whisky that truly tastes of India and deserves all the praise it gets.

The Indian climate maturation and Himalayan malt purity is all highlighted in the bold aromas and flavors of this Amrut spirit.

It is an Indian treasure.

Horrible
Horrible whisky. Bought my first and the last bottlenose Amrut. Not sure how this is rated so high. I expect much better experience at this price.

Poop
The aroma of a porta-potty mixed with hints of dandelion and wet dog. I always give it to my in-laws when they are in town!
