Darkness! Aberlour 20YO Bottling Note

Before this 20 year old Aberlour was bottled, it spent 3 months in specially coopered, 50 litre, first-fill Pedro Ximénez casks. These little rascals impart Sherry notes in spades and at a faster rate, thanks to the significantly increased surface area to volume ratios.

"Here we can see the sweet sherry at work and play, working alongside the striking intensity of the outstanding barley."

- Jim Murray (94 Points)

Seaweed & Aeons CS #005

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Initial cinnamon, green apple and meringue with clove and anise developing.

Palate: Red apple, nutty oak, cakeyness and again clove develops to add wonderful depth.

Finish: Dates, sultanas, fruit salad and something unexpectedly herbal pops up too (a little menthol?).

Overall: The nuttier, sweeter sibling of the Oloroso cask matured Darkness! Aberlour, there are still plenty of dark depths to explore here.
