It's batch 58 of Aberlour's long-running A'Bunadh range, matured exclusively in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at cask strength - this time it's a sturdy 61.1% ABV. Much loved among Sherried whisky enthusiasts.

Nose: Jamaican Ginger cake, chocolate buttons, a kick of black pepper and sugary coffee.
Palate: Rum-soaked raisins dusted with dark-chocolate shavings and spicy clove. More sweet coffee, now with some chicory in tow
Finish: Christmas spices and Maltesers.

What an exciting whiskey! Strong fruit and chocolate, spicey and flavoursome. A much appreciated birthday present.

My brother-in-law was over for a scotch tasting this holiday season. Every year we try to get together. This year he really wants to purchase a bottle (we always drink what l have) so we dropped in and picked up a bottle of this batch 58. it was my first sample of any Aberlour product. l really wasn't sure what to expect out of this 61.1% bottle of A'Bunadh. WELL let me tell you, if you have not tried this scotch, SHAME, SHAME ON YOU. do yourself a FLAVOUR. Try it. Before l let you go, we were on line checking out the reviews on this dram and came across high reviews for the Batch 49. l found two old dusty bottles at the Nova Scotia Liq. Corp. Sweet.

Me gusta mucho la exploción de sabores en este maravilloso espiritu. Sherry, especias navideñas, un rico sabor leve a bourbon, dulzura leve y me sigue sorprendiendo hasta su final que es bastante largo.

powerful, powerful. this is a massive sherry bomb. yes here is a lot of alcohol burn, but at 61.1% what do you expect. this stuff is great on it's own, but add a small drop of water and the alcohol disappears given a concentrate of sherry in a light drink. ad too much water however, and all that flavor is dulled down.

I would say brilliant for me. Second strongest whisky from A'bunadh collection after batch 56. Yet I preffer drink without water instead of advice to add it. In nose I felt dark cherry chocolate pie with a lil bit alcohol. Palate is nearly same as nose but with some spice and cinamon. Finish is long last fresh malted coffee beans. Nice for cold winter evenings near fire place. Will buy again!

I've been hunting down a bottle of any A'Bunadh for quite some time and this one brought a huge smile to my face. I had it neat, just a small splash in a glass, sipped slowly while I enjoying thanksgiving with my family. It's close to my current favourite, Glenlivet 18.I'm only 24 and have trial an error-ed my way through several different single malts for the past 2 years. So I'm just sharing how I felt, rather than being able to pick out notes. It's the first out of 13 to get me to immediately pour a second dram. So it's 4.5 from myself.

Absolutely gutted about the continual downturn in this NAS (formal sherried bliss) whisky. I have been enjoying early forties batches with quite reliable repeatable joy.Massive joy. Couldn't put this stuff down. Then the batch 50s happened. I have had every batch up to 58, and in turn - got more and more dissatisfied, I used to adore this whisky, and now it kills me every time I fall into the trap of purchasing the next expression- hoping for the former glory. This is a whisky in steep decline, and true sherry fans are now turning away from this former stalwart of affordable yet beautiful sherried whiskies. So sad. Avoid

Very good whisky pleasant and smooth with a splash of water due to being cask strength I certainly enjoy it anyway as with most Aberlour whisky easy four stars I reckon.

-compared with some of the previous 10 batches this definitely spicier....and, to my palate Far Too Young......I have no issue with NAS malts and everyone's taste is different-but have to wonder if they are playing at seeing how far they can push it.....or possibly have finally run out of the decent stuff? I have a range of bottles from the last dozen or so batches-and will Not be buying this again (It's about as dire as #50which had thought an aberration)....and am even considering (given the downward trend of the last 3 batches) whether to even bother with 59.....though probably will as they MIGHT just re-issue a batch for drinking as decent dram and not just to put the 'punch' in French cocktails......
