Aberlour A'Bunadh #47 Bottling Note
Batch 47 of Aberlour's incredibly popular A'Bunadh series. As always, it's a stunning single malt which has matured in Spanish Oloroso sherry butts and been bottled at a sturdy 60.7% abv. No chill-filtering, no colouring, just great whisky!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Seductive sherry notes, candied orange peel, hazelnut and mixed spices.
Palate: A huge hit of sherry comes first, alive with orange and ginger. Dried fruits and dark chocolate follow close behind.
Finish: Bitter dark chocolate and allspice.
Overall: The a'Bunadh never disappoints! A drop of water or two wouldn't go amiss to bring out every flavour of this fantastic whisky.

Embarassingly Good
Haven't tried other batches (yet!) but the explosion of flavours in your mouth in the 47 is astonishing.
I'm going to get it again soon.

Wonderful!
Superb flavor. Reminiscent of winter evenings and after-dinner drinks.

The taste is floating into my mind throughout the day now
I cannot compare it to other batches but having tried 47, I am on the hunt for other sherry cask whiskies that will please as well as this one. I am still looking. This love in a bottle is just too expensive to drink as much as it is making me want to. Why yes, I did just buy another bottle of 47. Now, how to hide it from myself...

Wow!
I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. The alcohol level made me worry a little bit. And also, being mostly a peat lover, I have been disappointed by some of the sherried whiskies I have tried. But a'Bunadh 47 did not disappoint. On the contrary. I find it an absolutely excellent dram! There's a certain hint of bourbon coming through, both on the nose and on the palate. And I do like bourbons. But then again, it's definitely still a Speyside Scotch. Powerful, but controlled. Quite sweet, fruity. I prefer it with a little bit of added water, and who can blame - with an alcohol level above 60%. Definitely a very special and delicious whisky! Would recommend it to anyone.

awesome
Amazingly good value for a top quality whisky full of deep flavours. Still for an extra £5 you could have a bottle of Haig Club if you wanted....... not me!

Spiced sweet sherry loveliness
It's all here with this rather stunning whisky - the sherry casks, the spices, fruit, and a pleasing but slow burn from this cask strength beauty. Not for every day drinking, but perfect for these chilly December moonlit nights. Very special, and amazingly cheap for a Scotch of such quality. Buy Batch 47 without hesitation.

Batch 47
was undecided last review but promised a better one later , well what a hidden gem this whiskey is at first I struggled to come to terms with however with a third of cold spring water or indeed a chunk of ice on top of a splash of spring water this becomes the smoothest whiskey I have had , it really is one to stoke the fire with this Christmas but I would advise not having the bottle too far away to save getting up too often , get some more master of malt this is lovely !! Great!
All the good stuff here, but it's a rather young whisky so lacking some finess. Still excellent stuff

Mrs
Astonishing! I came across this whisky visiting a friend in a remote part of Sweden called Dalarna. I 'm a red wine lover with a sensitive palate and I have never understood all the hallelujah about whisky, though I've tried. This whisky was special, balanced and still intriguing to the palate and tongue! Sweet, with tones of dried fruits and sherry. Not too smoky. Not burning despite its strength. Maybe this is the start of an unexpected love affair. I have already bought a bottle as a gift to my brother who is a true fan of fancy whisky. I'm anxious to hear his judgement.

A Cask Strength that pleases without water
Enjoying a great sherry finished Scotch is a great experience. The Dalmore 18, The MaCallan and now, for me, Aberlour. What an excellent dram for a cask strength. Cask strength Scotch has always has a big bright greeting on the tongue for me and this particular sherried Scotch is so smooth, it doesn't pop with heat on the tongue at first. Greeted with a super smooth sweetness, uncharacteristic of cask strength, gives way to such a nice woodsy vanilla raisin creme flavor really just unbelievable. Moved this to the front next to the Glenlivet 15 Nadurra, the Balblair 24 and The Dalmore 18. It's replaced my signatory bottle of Jura 24 just because it's oh so awesome like that!
What a price point!
