Aberlour A'Bunadh Batch 46

Aberlour A'Bunadh #46 Bottling Note

Batch 46 is only the second Aberlour A'Bunadh batch released in 2013 (so far), so we imagine that many fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting this delicious dram. As usual, the Aberlour A'Bunadh Batch 46 has been matured in Oloroso butts and bottled at cask strength with no chill filtration. Brilliantly sherried whisky lovers, rejoice!

Aberlour A'Bunadh Batch 46 Reviews

Super whisky

My absolutly favorite. Very soft and smooth with a lot of tastes, even without adding water. Hope that my next aberlour is like this batch.

Absolutely a very good smooth refined example of a single malt. Must be drunk neat to really savour all the complex nuances.Traditional distilling has captured the purity and flavour.Only criticism is I paid $189 dollars at my "boutique"liquor outlet!

very nice, a little bitter in the finish, but I like that. Sharp alchohol, but settles after 20 mins. in the glass with 1/3 water (40% alc., my taste) and then its all good.

My new favourite! I met batch 46 at my son's wedding. I was hooked immediately. Found several bottles at the NSLC specialty store. At $100 a pop it is an expensive dram, but so far still worth the splash.!!

Batch 46 is better than Batch 47

The batch 47 seems harsher both on the palate and the nose. And it needs more water. Shame the Batch 46 is sold out.

Perfect agreement / disagreement

I perfectly agree with Highlander; this one *needs* a bit of water to open it up. Neat, it tastes like everclear with a cherry pixie stick mixed in. With water, well I still get mostly cherry, but it's no longer *concentrated* cherry pucker but rather warm cherry effervescence on top of a nice sherried dram.
Oddly in reference to another previous review, I also love and prefer the ardberg corry neat, and it's my favorite whisky so far in fact. But my bottle of a'Bunadh was greatly enjoyable. Note the water does take some time to mix; it tastes better 5 min after adding the water vs. immediately. (Note to self, try everclear with a cherry pixie stick and add some water).

Got the good bottle

Tried it for the first time Saturday, it was great. I had added a couple of drops of water as instructed on the label to open up the flavours. It was go good, I went and bought another bottle.
