This was given DG at SF Spirits competition in 2014. I can see why. Smooth, complex, lightly explosive in mouth, and great caramel, vanilla, honey notes. Can't believe this is under forty!

Aberlour brand us my favorite now. I just purchased their entire family. 10, 12, 16, 18, and Abunddh. Very smooth flavor full I like the 16 years old the best and than abundh.

....Mum's people were from Gigha, so I'm genetically pre-dispositioned I think to enjoy a good Islay, BUT, my word--I do like the Aberlour 12 and all of the a'Bunadh!! AND to the person below that prefers JW Red Label over Aberlour 12...next time try it without ice cubes and Coca Cola!!!....philistine

Delightful Dram. Anyone who doesn't rate it cannot be a whisky lover.
18th December 2014
Tastes more like a low-end cognac than a good single malt. My pallette must not be a fan of the sherry cask. Will not be purchasing again.
30th November 2014
The start is pretty great, the finish sweet and spicy and long. But right in the middle is a strange alcohol burn that I do not associate with single malt. Its like someone poured Jim beam into a really nice (but unexceptional) single malt. I'm really puzzled but this is my first Aberlour. Does anyone agree with me about this? or did I just get a bad bottle?

winter flask whisky
20th November 2014
Superb value, I can only imagine what heaven the 18yr must be like
9th November 2014
a lot. It tastes flat. Like a watered down Abunadh. I don't like it at all. And way overpriced.
7th November 2014
A Lemsip as a better aftertaste than this whiskey. Far too sweet and no real standout notes to speak of!?
25th October 2014
Been a scotch drinker for 30 years now, this is now my #1, so smooth in the way it lingers.... Love it :-)
22nd October 2014
Nice and smooth mouthfeel, smells of dried fruit, apple, and sherry, really inviting. Taste is lots of sherry, and after reading a review below where someone says a bit of cognac, i certainly agree! This is an overall nice whisky for the price. I was a fan of the 10 year and this does offer a bit more!

Smooth floral/citrus nose, honey and citrus palate, nice finish,...a joy to quaff,...going to make this one a default malt when I need a reliable dram. Damn good.
10th September 2014
Smooth and buttery. Its almost like werthers original put into a scotch. Absolute scotch heaven. None compares in quality nor price.
31st August 2014
Very easy drinking and enjoyable. If you like extra peaty scotch, this is not it. Great over ice!
18th August 2014
Superb easy drinking .give me more
14th July 2014
Great dram! Buttery smooth with a hint of sherry. I love this one. The guy below that prefers Johhny Walker Red must be on some kind of hallucinogen... Not even close in comparison.
11th June 2014
So smooth you can really drink it straight up with out even adding ice. I honestly can't believe somebody prefers Johnnie Wa&%er red! He must have burned his tongue with a hot poker.
14th May 2014
I only wish I had had some Highland Park for comparison. It was not possible for me to imagine how a whisky in this style / from this area could be improved. Sort of the apotheosis of Glenmorangie and Balvenie, my prior go-to faves.
23rd March 2014
Bought this in a ghetto "habib mart" style establishment on a Saturday night. The clerk saw I was willing to drop $50 on a bottle and opened a separate register to ring my transaction, despite the five people ahead of me, lol. The whisky itself is indeed a fine sherried dram, and the double cask maturation certainly shows in the flavor profile: smooth, lightly woody, sherry sweetness with citrusy notes and a hint of cognac!
23rd February 2014
A staple in my house, and definitely not discontinued.
4th February 2014
I seem to be running against the grain here, but I find the sweet fruitiness to be overriding any hint that there is a bit of peat or malt involved. For the money it's ok, but I expect a bit more complexity and a lot less sherry.
14th December 2013
A very fine whiskey, and at 71 I have had experience.
10th November 2013
Really like this whisky
14th August 2013
the old boys wont like this but my god smooth and full of flavour hints of plum and apples honey if this was an aftershave splash it on and go very happy with this purchace
15th July 2013
...but I still prefer Johnnie Walker Red.
6th July 2013
I know this doesn't give me great credibility, but I legitimately didn't drink before I turned 21. This was my first purchase and first drink, and it is just amazing. I think I'll be ruined for any other kind of alcohol.
18th June 2013
Forgot to rate it
14th April 2013
The folks at Aberlour hit the jackpot with this. Even those of us on a budget an enjoy a good scotch. This is easily the best Speyside scotch out there for the price. I'd even pay $50 or more for this. Got a bottle...you won't regret it!
Hands down my favorite scotch, less talk, more drink.
1st April 2013
This is a wonderful single malt. You can spend more, but there is no need. Once you discover Aberlour 12, your search for the perfect, all-around whisky will be over.
25th February 2013
I received a bottle as a gift. It has quickly become my favorite. Do yourself a favor and get a bottle. One dram and you will be fan too.
26th January 2013
I have tasted many, none as good as this! A smooth Scotch! None will be disappointed.
25th January 2013
...but I have zero regrets. This stuff is absolutely wonderful. Please do yourself a favor and get a bottle.
28th December 2012
Everything from nose to finish is just in place. The price is right for this wonderful experience.
2nd November 2012
This maple syrup colored dram is fantastic. There's butter and brown sugar on the nose. There's a bit of oak and almonds on the tongue, with a smooth, burnt brown sugar finish. This drink sweetens up a bit with just a touch of water. Definitely one of my favorites.
10th December 2011
This Aberlour is very well done. Every drop is wonderful, right down to the nose when the glass is empty. Very fresh
