A wonderful Speyside single malt, distilled at Aberlour in December 2008. It spent the following decade in a single refill hogshead, until in April 2019 Douglas Laing bottled the whisky for the Old Particular series. The hogshead yielded 476 bottles at 48.4% ABV, full of hallmark Speyside notes. As always with Old Particular bottlings, there's no colouring or chillfiltration to be seen here.
Nose: Loads of juicy white stone fruit, along with bucketfuls of sweet malt and a touch of toffee.
Palate: More powerful than the nose would suggest, with loads of baking spice, more malt, caramelised nuts, apricot jam, mint leaves and brown sugar.
Finish: Honey sponge cake, toasty malt, a prickle of oak spice and barley sugar.
