Single malt Scotch whisky from Aberfeldy distillery in the Scottish Highlands (just). Bottled in 2015 by Gordon & Macphail for their Connoisseurs Choice range, it comes from number of casks of whisky distilled in 1999.
Nose: Lovely cereal notes with hints of fruit, both fresh and some darker hints.
Palate: Chocolate chip cookies, rice pudding with jam, gooseberry and hints of redcurrant.
Finish: Rolled oats and cocoa.
Overall: A lovely combination of distillery style and subtle Sherry cask influence.

A very nice dram for the money. Light straw colour. Long, somewhat spicy finish following a fruity, cereal, cinnamon flavour. Too bad it looks like it's discontinued!

Whilst I have been fortunate enough to sample some superior drams when at tastings and the like, I can honestly say I've never bought myself a finer whisky than this. Its price is almost misleading, but in fact the keen price is testament to the discernment of the bottler. G&M will no doubt be incredibly proud of this 16YO expression of the southern Highland malt.I find the nose belies the complexity of the bold flavour. It has a beautiful, round, full taste with a bit of leather, wax and a pronounced cereal element which finshes with a hint of a danish pastry (buttery sweetness with a mere suggestion of cinnamon). Were there not a hundred other whiskies to try, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Perhaps in the future, I'll be lucky enough to receive one as a gift. You on the other hand shouldn't leave it to chance - enjoy!
