Potocki Bottling Note
Potocki is a high-quality Polish vodka produced using locally-sourced rye from the fields around the distillery in central Poland. The vodka is double distilled and bottled at 40% ABV without filtration, so all of the spirit's character ends up in the bottle, not in the filter.
Very smooth, but not to the point of flavourlessness (is that even a word?). Elegant notes of rye bread, crushed nuts and perhaps a touch of dried fruit. The producers recommend drinking the vodka chilled but not frozen in order to preserve the more aromatic notes.
The date on the neck of the bottle, 1816, refers to the year Alfred Potocki inherited the Lancut Castle, which had a distillery on its estate, beginning the family's story in spirits.
