A smashing vodka from Californ-I-A, this was created by Jorg Rupf and Lance Winters. They used pot stilled viognier wine which is blended in a column still with wheat vodka. The result is perfectly balanced and very smooth.

Hangar One is made by St. George Spirits in Alameda, California, not too far from my home. I've visited the distillery, and have sampled their many flavored vodkas, as well as this "Straight" version. St. George uses only the hearts of the still's product, making the alcohol very smooth. The addition of viognier wine to the distilling gives a tiny bit of sweetness to the otherwise neutral vodka. This is great for blending, and drinking at room temperature, neat. No need to freeze - it's just good vodka.
