2018 Vintage Whisky

Whisky and the world in 2018

The world's eyes were on the historic North Korea–United States Summit and the FIFA World Cup in 2018. In the whisky sector, Glenfiddich Fire & Cane made headlines as part of their Experimental Series. This peated whisky finished in rum casks showed how innovation could still surprise and delight even the most seasoned whisky drinkers.

Kavalan, from Taiwan, also rose in prominence with their Solist Sherry Cask, gaining international acclaim and proving that excellent whisky could come from any part of the world.

Independent bottlers like Adelphi continued to gain prominence, offering a carefully curated selection of old and rare whiskies from various distilleries. Meanwhile, Berry Bros. & Rudd, one of the oldest wine and spirits merchants in the UK, maintained their reputation for high-quality, independent bottlings, often featuring whiskies from distilleries that were no longer operational. With both mainstream and independent releases capturing the imagination of the public, 2018 was a year that celebrated whisky’s diversity and global appeal.
