Produced by the Giulio Cocchi Spumanti company, this is a classic vermouth which was first produced in 1891. It is based on a recipe with Moscato wine, sourced from Asti, near Turin.
Rich spices and fruit. Hints of cured ham, peppermint and curry spices.
Cocoa and raisins. Rich fruit and bittersweet peels. Orange zest, aniseed and overripe grape.
A faint hint of smoke, with tangy wood and spice.
A beautifully rich, bittersweet vermouth.
Great for a Negroni, great with tonic, no idea what those with low reviews are expecting!?
I don't stock anything else now. I've compared it to most of the usual suspects (e.g. Antica, Sacred, Carpano Classico) and this has always been the most impressive for Negronis and Rye Manhattans (and variations). Some may find it a little too sweet for a Bourbon Manhattan, so might want to split the vermouth quota there with some Dry Vermouth, Dry Sherry or Punt e Mes
Great for a Negroni
I bought this as I recently discovered the delights of Negroni and wanted to make my own. This is a sweet Vermouth and I found it so nice I now (occasionally) drink it on it's own, on the rocks.
To bitter for me, didn't enjoy it as I thought I would.
