That Boutique-y Rum Company

In late 2018, the Boutique-y family grew. First, there was That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and it was good (there are awards to prove it). Then there was That Boutique-y Gin Company, which was also good (again, they have awards for proof). So, naturally, there was always going to be a That Boutique-y Rum Company.

While TBRC is hardly the first independent bottler to take on rum, the company has done so with significant gusto. That means honest, unusual, and always delicious rums with an open and bullshit-free approach to classification. No light or dark rums here. Colouring, additives, flavourings, and pirate-based nonsense belong to the rums of yesterday. Where possible, the distillery’s name is always written on the label.

That Boutique-y Rum Company is a bottler that will bring you agricole rhum from Thailand and Madeira, aged corkers from Haiti, innovative creations from the UK or Australia, and cult names like Caroni and Uitvlugt. We’re talking pot still rums from single distilleries. Multi-column rums from multiple distilleries. Signature blends created for the finest rum cocktails. All presented with total transparency and with a proper rum nerd’s vested interest that you understand and enjoy the liquid in the bottle.

The company recruited Peter Holland (of thefloatingrumshack.com fame) to help select, present, and promote the best spirits in the world, a decision that has paid off. As has giving the job of creating That Boutique-y Rum’s brand of whimsical stylings to Twitter (or should we say ‘X’) legend Jim’ll Paint It.
