Sin Gusano Lamparillo Bottling Note
Lamparillo agave is native to northern Mexico and the southern United States and spirit made with it hasn't made it to European shores before Sin Gusano got its hands on this beauty. This particular spirit was made with a variety harvested wild from a part of the fabled "Mapimí Silent Zone" (a desert patch that is said to not receive radio signals or any type of communication) where the states of Chihuahua, Durango, and Coahuila meet. The agaves were processed in the classic Durango style in Nombre de Dios by maestro Gilberto Roldán Quezada, who has over two decades of experience making mezcal.

Like drinking liquid barbecued red peppers
First time trying lamparillo, wasn't sure what to expect but it is an absolutely incredible finding from Jon. Absolute bags of savoury smoked red pepper flavour and one of my favourite mezcals from the sin gusano offering to date - makes a wicked naked & famous too if you feel so inclined (equal parts lamparillo, aperol, yellow chartreuse & lime juice, with a wee pinch of salt) - sublime.
Thank you!
