Georgia Moon Reviews

Not what they say it is.

Purchased 2 bottles of Georgia Moon 100 proof. I wanted to proof it myself and it only proofed out at 80.

Great product!

Big fan. My liquor store bought a case just for me! I enjoy the corn finish in the taste.

Tastes like tomorrow's headache

Tastes like it auditioned for a role as paint thinner before settling on being bottom shelf booze.

Great price! Great taste!

Let me start off that if you are a whiskey snob you most likely will not like this because there is no charred oak flavor from being aged in barrels. Now that we have established that, I can say that this is one hell of a unaged moonshine spirit. I have tasted many moonshines both off the store shelf in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and also from the backwoods out of an unlabled mason jar. Georgia Moon has an incredible corn flavor. It is not about high proof or to get you black out drunk. It is simply a smooth unaged corn liquor. If you buy moonshine that is made from neutral spirits, you with get a liquor that tastes very much like vodka or rubbing alcohol. This is best served chilled and sipped on while relaxing after a long week. Not to chug or to take as shots, but sipped and passed around with your friends around a bon fire. I have bought many jars and plan to continue buying them!

Has this been around since 1969?

I bought a jar of this down in Jacksonville, FL 46 years ago. It was some really good stuff. Is this the same as it was back then? I don't think this the label has changed much since then either. I hope it hasn't changed.

If anyone tells you this is good...

Theyy are lying. It's seriously bad. Clearly this must be more of a novelty type spirit.

Did not disappoint!

I have drunk just about anything and everything. From absinthe to apple brandy. From Budweiser to Boddington's. From scotch to bourbon to whiskey. Never had the backwoods stuff before and I choose very carefully what I wanted my first shine to be. Tasting this, it definitely did not disappoint. If you can't taste the corn in this mash then you're not open to taste anything. It is incredibly strong and abrasive on the news, as I believe it's supposed to be, and has elements that you can't get from a good bourbon. If you like to drink something for the sole purpose of enjoying what's in the drink, then this is definitely something that's going to keep you coming back for more. I plan on trying other kinds of shine after this but will definitely get it again. If you get it, enjoy it. If you drink it looking for something in particular, then you're missing the purpose of moonshine.
