Flóki Icelandic Young Malt Reviews

Very unique. Very smooth and grassy.

Don't let the sheep dung scare you. it's just fuel to smoke the malt. It leaves no undesirable tastes. Please, Eimverk, find a way to ship to USA! I need some to hold me over until I come back!

If you don't like it, it's just because you can't hang.

We tried it at the distillery. Tastes magnificent. like I just walked into a barn. Not for everyone.. especially those with zero sense of adventure and culture.

If you like a good single malt - avoid at all costs.

Myself and another photographer who are both single malt fans tried some of this whilst filming in Iceland (against the bartender’s advice) on the strength that I liked the name.

Tasting notes ranged from “a bit like mouthwash and dried rosemary“ (which everything from the shower gel to the hand cream in the hotel seemed to be scented with) to “alpine toilet cleaner mixed with pot pourri and supermarket own brand whisky”.

Needless to say we only had the one glass.

If you want something Icelandic - try the Reyka vodka - I’m not a big fan of vodka, but out of the freezer, it’s the best I’ve tasted.

I purchased a bottle of Floki - young malt sheep dung smoked reserve on my way home from Iceland and it was one of the best whiskey's I've ever had. I know it sounds funky but once you get past the name it's amazing. I'm thinking of going back just to get some more !!!

Handsome design

I like the bottle design. It's sold out, however, and so I can't purchase a bottle.

A nice and uncomplex malt.

Experience will come with the years. Easy to to taste and to enjoy! Nice sweet hints and fine aftertaste. Looking forward to 2025 for the more mature malt.

I needed a shower after tasting this

Probably the worst "malt spirit" I've ever tasted. No. I take that back. Not probably... definitely! I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, seeing as this is their first product and (obviously) needs more time in the cask, but recently I tried their first single malt, and I gotta say.... not much improvement.

Herbal, tea-like, peppery

It’s definitely not bourbon, and is almost more liken to a rye. I think this whiskey is amazing and is one of my all-time favorites. It is definitely unique, almost tea-like so I can understand why traditionalists may not prefer it, but it’s amazing to me and that’s all that matters. Definitely tastes clean and not estery, so it’s worth it’s weight in gold.

Light and smooth

Honestly this whiskey is light and smooth to drink. If you want an easy, simple drink this is one of them. Not sure why there are such harsh reviews, it's if far from terrible.
