Frequently asked questions

I've inherited some whisky. What are my options?

We offer free valuations on the bottles we are interested in purchasing with no obligation to sell to us. If you decide to take up our offers the process to sell to us is easy with no fees to pay.

What is my whisky worth?

There are a few things to look for when considering the value of your bottle. The most sought-after bottles are typically ones that were produced in small quantities and were bottled before to 2000. For bottles that were produced before the 1990s, there is a premium. These bottles are easy to spot by their size because they will be labelled as being 75cl, 750ml, or 26 2/3 fl oz in volume. The most sought-after single malt whisky brand is still Macallan, but other distilleries like Highland Park, Bowmore, Laphroaig, Ardbeg, and Bruichladdich can also be quite costly.

Do you provide a free valuation of my bottle or cask?

Yes - as part of our personalised service, we offer a free, indicative, valuation. You can request a valuation by filling in the form on this page on the website, or sending us details by email to privatepurchases@masterofmalt.com

How long does it take to sell my spirits?

We offer payment via bank transfer within 14 days of the bottle arriving with us.
