Westerhall's Plantation rum is made in St David's, Grenada. It is distilled from 100% pure sugar cane juice in small copper pot-stills before a maturation of 6 years in American oak charred bourbon casks. The result is spicy and creamy.
Nose: Creamy, soft spices. Notes of vanilla fudge, hints of faint smoke, toasted oak and caramel.
Palate: Creamy, caramel-led palate. Notes of allspice, Black Forest honey, a hint of fruit and custard.
Finish: Vanilla and spice on the finish.

I bought this out of nostalgia for Grenada, having visited during the Revo, though the only rum I drank at that time was cheap, white and over-proof. This is so much better than I expected, in fact it's the best I've ever tasted: better than Appleton's by far, better than Mount Gay even. Looks like Havana Club, the colour coming from ageing in oak, but the flavour is so subtle, like a rare malt whisky: vanilla, and caramel, and so much more! I shall have to try their other rums now!
