Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Rich, juicy fig and raisin notes, joined by touches of almond and cinnamon. A light whiff of orange blossom comes in on the mid palate, with layers of tropical fruit alongside.

R L Seale's 10 Year Old Reviews

Excellent over time

I’ve had this rum in my collection for over a year now. When I first opened the bottle and tried it I wasn’t too sure about it , I found it very oaky and felt it needed quite a bit of water to open up. Would have probably scored it 3/5 stars at this point.

Currently sitting with a glass over a year later and boy has slight oxidation been good to this rum. Lovely dark fruit/stewed fruit notes, the oakiness has mellowed.

Excellent if you give this rum time in the bottle and time in the glass, it really improves. Never had a bad purchase from foursquare. Superb

Too oaky for sipping, good in cocktails

Waaaay too woody, totally out of balance. Works an absolute treat with ginger ale though.

Top quality rum.

Top quality rum. Complex and balanced. A real treat over ice. Spoilt for choice with Foursquare rums but this is a good bourbon cask aged example. Very smooth and tasty.

Deep and rich, but so so dry (and oaky)

Very dry, very oaky. I found it a bit more complex and interesting than La Hechicera, but liked Hampden 8 much better.
The above has caused me to try some slightly less dry rums - funnily enough, I appreciate their added complexity and balance, but overall I think I like them less!
I imagine I will come back to this, or more likely Doorly's XO or 12, and probably appreciate them that bit more.

Nice

Nice, complex rum. An ice cube releases more of the flavours. Less of an oak taste than the Real McCoy - and much better for it. At this price, it is a steal.

What Rum should be!

Love Bajan rum, especially Foursquare and this while not quite on the level of some of their Exceptional Cask Selections it is a fantastic tipple, made all the better knowing i can get another bottle once I've finished this one! To my taste buds it hits THE SPOT! Really it should be a 5* but for the ECS releases it would be. 46%ABV really elevates it.

Such a pleasant surprise

I'm really enjoying this rum. Complex, smooth, and bloody delicious. Better than mount gay and appleton in this price range.

Elegant

Complex fruit and spice excellence, one of my favorite rums.
