Pusser's 15 Year Old Bottling Note
In late 2018, Pusser's relaunched it's fantastic 15 Year Old Navy Rum with a shiny new bottle to match! Previously this was made with a blend of rums from Trinidad and Guyana, though this newer edition is made exclusively with rum from Guyana aged for at least 15 years and bottled at 40% ABV. The name harks back to the days when sailors in the British Navy would be given a daily ration of rum (a tot, as it was affectionately known) by the ship's purser.

Chocolate and fudge, followed by hints of black liquorice, toasted walnuts, cassia, black pepper, stewed plums and dried apple slices. Underlying coffee warmth lingers.

Ok but disappointed
Sadly I didn’t enjoy this and not the same or a good as the outstanding old 15yr old bottle which is my number 1. Not as smooth and too strong.
For the price it is not worth it - go for the regular gunpowder strength instead

A sad sad day
So sad. The original 15yr old was an incredible dram- great with water or ice. This is a poor imitation. It has lost the unique woodiness, sweetness and rounded finish. This blend has a bitter almost acrid after taste at times. So disappointed- been slow to try this as had stockpiled so many of the original 15yr old. What a shame !

A disaster
I thought these reviews were wrong and uninformed, the red label was so good that I said this one will be at least similar so I bought a couple of bottles of the new version at a “good” price of $51. What a mistake, I don’t have an idea what the hell is this, something in the nose and mouth is really unpleasant to my taste. I tried and even as an expensive mixer doesn’t work. I have 3 and a half bottles of the previous red label and I will save for sipping slowly on special occasions.. what a shame

What happened???
This new 15 year is bad. Once i tasted this new blend, I bought every bottle of the old red label i could find. Been drinking the red label for a long time. If the red label had extra sugar, caramel, or what ever, added to it, they add it to the new 15 black label. The new 15 year has no sweetness, no smooth flavor. The new blend is harsh, and the flavor is so unpleasant, i cant believe they even released this version, and even more surprised they charge more for this.
I have bought so much of the original red label 15 year, that my supplier would ship it to me in the 6 bottle case. I have 16 bottles of the original 15 year - and i will take my time drinking them. As for now, I have been substituting my frequent thirst for rum by drinking El Dorado 12 year and El dorado 15 year . The 15 year is sweeter, the 12 year is more traditional Dark rum flavor.

Bring back the red label.
WHAT???? Happened! Why change what was once the best rum on the planet? This went from 5 stars down to two and that's a bit overrated. The charred oak cask killed all the wonderful notes it had. Now all I tasted is burnt wood. Not one sign of rum. Seems they're trying to make a run against the single malt whiskey trade. Why go that route with rum? Rum is rum no matter how you spell it. It simply isn't Scotch period. Totally disappointed and will never buy it again. Bon Voyage Pusser's!

Disappointed too...
Not tried this but the price hike is enough to put one off and at 40% ABV and likely a heavy sugar content there are much better rums available, Mount Gay XO comes to mind, higher ABV and at half the price too.

Bitter
Undrinkable. Bitter after taste. I have never been so disappointed in a drink. Apparently the Trinidad distillers won't export the aged rums including the 15 yr old, hence the change. However, this is horrible.

Why replace the Red Label
Why have they done away with the Red Label which uses the Admiralty recipe and replaced it with this and charge an extra tenner? What were they thinking? My Grandad didn't drink this, I want tradition.
