Plantation XO Barbados Bottling Note

A superb-looking decanter bottle of XO rum from Barbados, aged in bourbon barrels before being shipped to France for a secondary maturation in Cognac casks from the Ferrand house. The result is a well balanced rum with a remarkably long finish, with a palate of chocolate, banana, coconut and mango. Now this is some very good stuff.

Plantation XO Barbados 20th Anniversary Reviews

Nice rum but nothing special considering the price. Are you paying for a fancy bottle? El Dorado 15 and Doorly's 12 are two examples in this price range which offer so much more.

Dozens of grams of sugar

An OK rum but its insanely sweet with all that added sugar, put your $$$ elsewhere

Lovely with a cigar

Very nice for the price

Rich, deep and sweet.

Astoundingly rich and creamy. Full of caramelized banana chips and flambéed cherries. Delicious and incredibly moreish.

The bottle is quite beautiful too - a nice thing to have on the shelf.

Tastes fine but disappointing lack of depth

I've got to say this is disappointing at this price. I finished my bottle of Zacapa 23 and wanted to try something else for a similar price. This does not come even close.
It is smooth and easy drinking, but it is FAR too sweet! It also doesn't have much character or complexity, it is just quite inoffensive and sweet. That would be fine for maybe £30 but not £50!

Drink neat. You won't be disappointed.

Loved this rum. My go to rum is El Dorado 12 Yr old but this has sweet subtle flavours

100% recommend ! The real stuff !

I was looking for something I could just pour a glass of , sit back and sip slowly straight up without kidding myself it was enjoyable or "nice." This is it ! Tasting notes are spot on. It just gets better the further down the glass you go. Smooth and complex with no burn or harshness . Very grown up !

Best ever

Best rum I have had. Fantastic to sip neat and fabulous with a drop of Rochester Ginger.

Top banana

Best rum out there, smooth and rich. Great drinking on its own or with a splash of lime over ice. Would 100% recommend - 5th bottle now and my go to rum!

Primitive and Divine

You know when you taste something and you know is so primitive, typical and basic. in a short sentence on the nose a Banatin (banana tartatin) dusted with toasted notes and 🥥 coconut and chocolate crumbles.
I admit that I was not impressed, but on the palate it recalibrated my expectations entirely.. elegant power and persistence, texture and balance that shows what a unique maturation can add to a product. After the first sip it also flaired up beautiful notes of seville oranges and a very long finish.
