Plantation G&B Añejo Bottling Note

A blended rum from the Plantation range, using rums from Guatemala & Bélize, two neighbouring countries in Central America. Following its initial maturation, it's taken to France to be finished in ex-Cognac casks, resulting in very intriguing additions to its rich flavour profile...

Good value superior blended rum

Well purely in the name of research I have opened the signature blend.
Having read some reviews I let this breath and warm up in the glass before trying. Initial aroma on opening was strong rum scents with smokey oak notes, not unpleasant at all, totally different from the natural rum sweetness found with El dorado.
First taste you know it's rum but with bourbon/sherry/port notes coming through. Some say it's not dry but I found the oaky finish just right with a dry note at the end. Not much burn and as its young and I normally drink 12 to 21 yr old rums found the intensity of the finish to not last too long but even after 3 minutes the sweet rum tobacco notes are still there. Sometimes you read a label and think what were they smoking, but this one does what says on the tin.
Is it a classic? No, is a keeper, Yes. Need to try out a Freddie G and report back. Would I buy it again, Yes and it's nice to have something different on the shelf in 'me Rum shap'.
Good price and value.

Quality Value and delicious luxury

My wife bought me a bottle for Christmas and I was a bit non-plussed not having ever drunk quality rum. This was far superior to any brandy or Calvados in a similar price range in my opinion. Every sip was a delight from first to last . A real depth and complexity of flavour. I can not recommended this enough .Try it ! You won't be disappointed.

Go to.

If you enjoy the Plantation Bajan 5, then this has a similar baseline but with added funk. Superb depth of flavour riding on a long wave, we have the initial attack which is like that of a hearty Jamaican rum, silky smooth mouthfeel then sustaining long and calm with notes that ping along the way. Then for the next sip! I haven't mixed it, always been a straight sipper but 50ml plus in a wine glass to get that nose going. I'm a fan of El Dorado 15yr, this rum is an oblique angle yet they reflect each other, if you like one, try the other.
