i served in the Royal Navy and the RN tot was Demerara rum, the closest I have had to the real navy rum was Wood100 but I understand OVD is very close also, is this true and if so is there any company importing this rum please?

Served with the Black watch in Guyana in the 50s, and introduced to OVD. Best and only rum I have drunk since. I was gifted two bottles of OVD Spiced, for my 75 birthday a few yeqrs ago and have been trying to purchase same, but believe that it is no longer available. OVD Rum cannot be beaten for taste but OVD Spiced is like a liquer and best drunk on its own, with ice. Any one know of a distiller who is slill selling OVD Spice.

nothing like it..unique!!
Have been drinking it for 45 years with coke and ice and although I drink very little now when I have one it's like greeting an old friend. Nothing tastes like it have tasted them but ovd has a taste all of its own. It is not easy to squire outside the Dundee area but as I live within 20 miles it is not a problem..slange!!!

I followed in my fathers footsteps and tried this 40yrs ago, he drank his with a touch of peppermint, i sometimes had mine with blackcurrant. Although i'm now a malt whisky drinker, every so often i buy a bottle of OVD & spend a few days enjoying this lovely old rum. Every pub i go to when i'm back home in Fife has a bottle somewhere.

Drunk OVD all my life. Was originally distilled in my hometown - Dundee, from imported ingredients. As things go, production moved to Guyana but the rum was still bottled in Dundee 'til the 1970s. Bottling plant moved to Glasgow but it's hard to find on the west coast of Scotland and almost impossible in England or Wales. It's a lot cheaper in Dundee - can get a litre bottle for £17.
In fact, outside of @ a 20 mile radius round Dundee, it's a hit or a miss to find in a pub.
Best rum I've tasted - and I've tasted lots...OVD...coke...easy on the ice - must be what God drinks...
