From Australia's Mt. Uncle distillery, this splendid rum is produced from local sugar cane syrup and treated to five years of maturation in ex-red wine hogsheads. Brimming with silky caramel, rich fruit, and hearty oak, it's an impressive expression sipped neat, and ought to work well in classic rum cocktails too.
Hearty helpings of dense, chewy toffee, hints of raisin studded tea loaf, and woody spice. A touch of peppery warmth follows, softened by butterscotch and vinous oak.
$31.65 - $58.75
I read the description and decided it sounds good. I bought it. It's smooth and comforting. Perfect for a winters night.....and pretty much any other. I bought it as a gift for my brother. But it was sooooo tempting. I just had to get another bottle to replace the one I drank. I drank it neat. It's too easy to drink. Personally I think it would be a crime to mix it
At this price point, I would far prefer to spend my money on El Dorado 12 but having said that, this is a completely different style of rum. For all the World, my far from educated palette can find little trace of the barrels used to age this Rum. As a 'sipper' it's adequate, but far from anything special, and I would suggest it's slightly over-priced, but it has been shipped halfway round the World.
