This was first produced in Santiago de Cuba over 130 years ago. It is aged using the Solera process, so on average the rums contained herein are 15 years old.
This is a rum to enjoy with gentleman and meaningful conversation. You won't feel the alcohol effect immediately, but enjoy a pleasant and refined taste that will capture the craftiness of its engineering.
Not that sublime, it lacks complexity, Is there any after taste at all?
We go to a Cuban bar that serves this rum. It is especially delicious with expresso. It can stand on its own and has vanilla flavors and is quite well balanced. However, it is also a wonderful mixing room. don't be concerned about negative reviews, give it a try.
Perhaps tastes a bit sweet (due to the added fruits and essences?) but for me it is smooth and easy-drinking, ideal for sipping and good for those of us who prefer a less harsh rum. Though the allegedly added sugar could be omitted. It is also substantially cheaper here, on-line than at retail.
I doubt that this is made in true solera style, and internet has revealed that it gets its taste from macerated fruits and essences. That shows through, it is a bit artificial overall, with a good dollop of added sugar to round all the flavours. Sweet, light hispanic rum, should be sold as spiced rum.
