Rum Sixty Six (40%) Bottling Note

A blend of pot and column still rums 'tropically aged' for a minimum of 12 years in American oak barrels. The reference to 'tropical' ageing is included to highlight the fact that due to the warm Bajan climate, the maturation process is taking place faster than it would here in Europe.

Rum Sixty Six 12 Year Old (40%) Reviews

Ho hum sipper, flavourful mixer

I was a bit disappointed by this. It has the classic Foursquare smell and flavour (very similar to ECS 2009), but if has what I can only describe as an 'off' note on the finish which I could never get past. It also suffers from the ABV. I imagine a new version pushed up to 43% will help.
At £30 though, it adds a lvely flavour to cocktails, and I would buy it again for that

Definitely One For The Rum Purist

I found this rather bland. Neat it is quite smooth, although it does possess a fair old kick to it from the alcohol burn. Taste wise, I got fruity notes, with some sweetness to enjoy, but not nearly enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, hence the bland comment. When mixed with Coca-Cola, Rum Sixty Six definitely improves, because the coke mellows the alcohol burn, which in turn makes this rum a tad more appetising. But here in lies my problem. Having spent £40 on this bottle and my thoughts of it are that it’s only so-so, leaves me feeling miffed. Having said all that though, I have no hesitation in recommending this to every rum purist up and down the land. That’s because I’m sure the vast majority of them would disagree with my thoughts and opinions completely and absolutely love this. The reason why I don’t, I’m a rum enthusiast, not a purist, which means I don’t mind rum makers adding sugar and/or flavourings to their rums, in fact I prefer it!

A good bridge for a whisky drinker, I'd say

If you're a fan of heavily oaked wines or a whisky drinker, I think you'll enjoy this. Me though, I found its oakiness a bit too much (not a lover of the "uisge beatha") . My partner enjoyed it quite a lot, so it's probably just me!
We drank about half a bottle and then it largely got put aside for a couple of months; when I revisited it, the oak finish had smoothed off a fair bit and I quite liked it, so I've given it an extra star from what I originally would have awarded it!

Good all round Bajan rum

A typical quality Foursquare rum - beautifully smooth and can be drunk with just a cube of ice or with a drop of mixer. We've visited the distillery on a few occasions when in Barbados and done a few 'tastings' whilst there. One of my favourite rums in this price range

Great rum for all occasions

Amazing mouth feel, complex, but great vanilla undertones

Not that good

I’ve had better is my review! Sorry this isn’t as good as other Barbados Rums MountGay Black, Dorleys, Neptune Foursquare, Foursquare originals . Was disappointed to be honest. Overpriced. Foursquare produce better 12 yr olds themselves. I do know rum and this missed something.

Deep bullish taste

Its deep bullish taste comes from the molasses it made from, giving it a strong treacle smell with a prune juice & roasted fig explosion in the mouth. As you swallow you get a black chocolate bitterness followed by an oak wood warmth, then a slight vanilla taste on the tail end. I'm my opinion this Rum is best served neat.

Another belter from the Foursquare Distillery. My wife and I did the tour in 2013 and tasted quite a few. This was a stand out - nice and smooth. You can watch cricket at their picturesque cricket ground as well.....
