User Reviews of the Four Bells Navy Rum - 1990s

Donald

One of the best dark rums. Person who said it reminded him of acetone probably has not drunk very much in the way of rum and would probably say the same of any rum.

what I think

I was black gang in the merchant navy. We used to get a bottle of 4 bells for cleaning out the scavengers.

Definitely NOT 'Acetone'

At the end of the Falklands conflict, all of the Merchant Navy Pursers favoured 4 Bells Rum. I had a happy 6 months down there getting acclimatized to it and having started of mixing it with coke, finished of drinking it neat with a lager as a companion! There are obviously different palates around if it is not universally loved? I love it :o)

I'll have another!

I was weaned on this rum from the mid 1960's when I first went to sea in the Merchant Navy. Brings back happy memories.

"Acetone"

What more could a person say about this Four Bells Navy Rum....This is one of the most disgusting tasting rum I have ever consumed & that was a small minut amount which literally made me feel like I had been poisoned...the taste was as if I had drank 'Acetone' the smell of it should have made me think twice before tasting it... As I am writing this review I am feeling incredible sick thinking about that revolting taste... Everybody to themselves as we all don't aquire the same taste.. But this is definitely Not for me. On a Scale of 0-10.... I say 0..
