A top quality rum from the Nicaraguan producer, Flor de Caña. This is fine sipping rum, with flavours like toffee apple and buttery vanilla. We love it. We also love the fact that the distillery is certified carbon neutral and fair trade, using 100% renewable energy and offsetting any emissions through planting trees – a whopping 50,000 of them a year since 2005!
Hints of buttery toffee and cinnamon on the nose. This develops with notes of black pepper, gingerbread, and allspice.
The palate offers up rich notes of cooked apple and allspice. Hints of nutmeg, honey, and a little toffee brittle.
Toffee and custard on the finish. Long and decadent.
Sure , this rum isn’t “12 years old” as already proven. However , for the price, it’s a dam good rum. Few drops of water into it and the longer you leave the more of the flavours come out. Vanilla, hint of honey and toffee, along with oak. Smooth as you like. Decent for around £30, personal preference for el dorado 12, but this isn’t too far off.
Found this is a pub last night and it's amazing! Can't understand other reviewers saying it doesn't have any flavour, it's bursting with it. Just ordered a bottle. I'm privileged to be able to sample many different rums but this really stands out in the crowd.
A stunning rum, my go to drink on a special occasion.
I love this rum! It’s absolutely perfect in cocktails - I love to mix it with lots of ice, fresh lime juice and Fever Tree ginger ale, it makes for the perfect summer drink, smooth as, and a total shoulder relaxer :) I’ve not bought any other rum since first trying this over a year ago now as it’s hands down the smoothest I’ve tried. Would recommend it wholeheartedly.
I truly don't get why this rum seems so revered. All I can taste is the ethanol. It feels thin, almost watered down, while it's in your mouth. Unpleasant to drink neat. Decent in a rum old fashioned if you add some flavor with bitters. Also the "12" in the name is misleading. Flor de Caña's age statements aren't legitimate and this rum is absolutely not aged 12 years. I'd steer clear the brand as a whole.
