A single cask rum from Fernandes distillers in Trinidad. It was distilled in March 2009 and matured for 9 years until it was bottled at 46% ABV by Hunter Laing for its Kill Devil series in 2018. Just 456 bottles were produced. Ought to be a rather intriguing expression for rum enthusiasts, as the Fernandes name doesn't get seen a lot these days.
Nose: Charred oak, bourbon vanilla and soft banana sweets lead, with rich coffee beans and tropical fruits in the backdrop.
Palate: Plenty of oak establishes a core that banoffee pie, prickly molasses spice and crunchy brown sugar emerge through.
Finish: Salted caramel and slightly bitter herbs end a delightful dram.
