Diplomatico's flagship, the Ambassador was created by Tito Cordero, Golden Barrel Award's 2011 Master Rum Blender of the Year. Expect huge juicy sweetness and flavour thanks to its maturation in bourbon barrels and 2 year finish in sweet Pedro Ximenez casks.
Nose: Fruity and thick nose with almond, hazelnut and cocoa. Toffee apples, fruits and hints of cooked banana, juicy sherry and mince pies, alongside deep notes of cinnamon and potpourri.
Palate: Rich and fruity with a buttery biscuit base, cinnamon, dried apricots, dates and Nutella. The predominant flavour, however, is of really good sweet pipe tobacco. Stunning.
Finish: Long and fruity with sweet, thick honey and allspice.

This is one of the most amazing and complex rums I have ever tried. Love the deep fruity flavors coming from the pot still and long aging but specially the salty/liquorice mouthfeel that comes from the Pedro Ximenez finish.Definitely worth a go!

One of the best rums I ever taste. Unique personality thanks to the touch of PX
Marvellous rum. You can taste the 2 year finish in sweet Pedro Ximenez casks. Wonderful

sweet with strong ethanol taste that I did not expect from a £200 bottle, the other reviewer was not kidding with the petrol jibe.

It's amazingly complex with a long finish, no doubt an outstanding rum. But I wouldn't buy it anymore because for €200 I prefer buying 2 or 3 bottles of different good stuff ;-)

Too sweet, I definitively prefer old Rhum from French Caribbean!

Certainly not a bad rum, but personally having tried it in a bar abroad for a reasonable price per glass, I came to the conclusion that I preferred the Diplomatico Reserva over this, it has more punch, is smoother and sweater and this comes across as a lesser tier rum which is surprising considering the price point

Bought it for around 240 euro and though pricey it is worth every euro! As a rum it is sublime and even considering other spirits it still holds its own.It has a very complex nose and taste with a long finish that doesnt come across as alcoholic in taste even at its high percentage. Just velvety smooth and lots of taste notes.Buy it if you want something complex to enjoy an entire evening!
