An intriguingly rich rum which is aptly smoky considering the name of its producers - Burning Barn. They make this expression by cold smoking their rum with local apple wood, imparting obvious campfire ember and smoked meat notes, which juxtapose handsomely with the spirit's underlying sweetness.
It's not shy about the its smoky notes. Burnt wood and crisp bacon (with a drizzle of maple syrup for good measure). Hints of caramelised fruit and chocolate hide underneath.
I love my Spiced rums mostly but thought I'd give this a go. So glad I did, So smooth and the aftertaste of smoke is gorgeous. I've never had a rum anything like this before.
Unlike any other rum I’ve had before, it delights every time! Particularly good in cocktails, I’d highly recommend!
Absolutely love this stuff- bought a bottle a few years ago and now use in all my cocktails. Also nice neat with an ice cube.
Just genuinely lovely. Great neat over ice, not too Smokey but if you want that head for whiskey. Also great in a dark n stormy, rivals goslings for top spot.
Tasty rum, nose of caramel, honey, clove and a wisp of smoke. Taste is sweet as you'd expect but not overpowering like some other rums I've had. There is some smoke on the taste and finish but I was hoping for a bit more punch! Still very enjoyable, would recommend.
