Botran Reserva is a delicious Guatemalan rum aged for between 5 and 14 years. Made from the best virgin sugar honey, this rum is aged in a Solera system in a mix of bourbon, port and sherry casks.
Nose: A dry, spicy nose with aromas of oak, barrel char, crème caramel and manuka honey gives way to toffee apple and allspice.
Palate: Dried fruits including dates, dried mango and apricot combine with almond, clove-studded orange, molasses and pannacotta. A robust rum which will go very well in a Daiquiri!
Finish: Good, long finish with freshly grated cinnamon and black treacle on the tail.

For the money you can't fall off but In my humble opinion Ron zacapa beats this to take top place for quality and price . El dorado is a sugar based rum where as this uses the juice extracted from squeezing the Virgin honey sugar cane juice so there quite different. It's also worth pointing out that Ron zacapa uses the same process only for your money you are getting older rums from 8 to 23 year old I believe, using the same solera method and at similar prices. Guatemalan rums are my favourite rums and buying different brands is expanding ones knowledge so no your not weird your just expanding ones knowledge !.

Recently introduced to this rum, and although slightly scepticle of "Solrea" rums, this has everything and more that a "normla" rum has. Perfect balance and lots of flavour that lasts. Great neat as mentioned below, but also in the classic coktails too. this is a great "me time" rum!

Please read the other review here dated 1/27/15. I agree completely!! I experienced this fine sipping Rum while attending the Miami Boat Show. Always in search of better rum. **The representatives at the show told me this bottle was ~$20.00 in major liquor stores in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Florida area so I was making a mad dash to purchase as many as possible! I haven't confirmed the pricing but anticipate it will not be at that price point. However, I like my run on the rocks or neat and this is superb.

When it comes to Rum, where do we start? Being a massive El Dorado 15yr fan, imagine my surprise when I fortunatley stumbled across this amazing rum that quite possibly would become my favourite. As I sit here now, I m struggling for words that would do this bottle justice (especially as it appears I am the 1st to review it). This is a perfect sipping Rum, or if you are like me, like to indulge in Rum Old Fashioned. The tasting notes are sweet and so so smooth, you could actually just stick a straw in the top and that would be just fine! It's not sickly sweet like the Diplomatico Reserva, and the balance is just perfect. If you have a budget of less than £50 - then this is the Rum I would go for. If you have a budget of £30 - do yourself a favour...but 1 less pack of smokes, or get the bus a couple of times a week and save the extra £13 - I promise you, it will be the best £13 you spent! Aghhhh I just love this Rum!!! Please please, some else review this, so I don't think I'm weird!!
