Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is fresh and perfumed with notes of oak and peels, a little syrup with a fennel note. The palate is sweet and rich with tropical fruits, peels and winter spice. The finish is gentle and luscious.

Bacardi 8 Year Old Reviews

Smooth & rich

Smooth and rich molasses taste, works well as a sipping rum or mixed with a Coke Zero

Tastes like Cough syrup

First dark rum I’ve tried and it’s terrible. Tastes like cherry flavored cough syrup. Mixed with coke wasn’t any better. I ended up dumping it out.

Really Good

I didn't think I'd like this. I was wrong. It's really good.

Yuk. Do not bother with this Rum.

The worse rum I have ever tasted. I have been drinking rum for over 50 yrs and have never tasted a rum so bad. In fact it doesn’t taste like rum. It tastes like a chemical has been added. Disgusting.

Fantastic black rum

Excellent rum for the money

As an everyday drinking rum with a splash of Diet Coke, this is superb.

A great sipper at a surprisingly low price

Great bang for your buck--this is my 'go to' rum for sipping at home while reading.

Liked it better than both the more expensive Bacardi 10 year old, as well as many much more expensive bottles including several other 12 year olds (like El Dorado and Flor de Cana), the sweeter Diplomatico Reserva, and even the Plantation XO 20th Anniversary.

Quite surprising from Bacardi! Hope the price doesn't go up as more and more people see what a bargain it is.

The closest thing thing to a seductive malt.......

This is a nice rum on its own or sip slowly, soothed by the slow seduction of ice gently fusing with the rum .
Its the closest you will get to a very smooth malt ...
for me the last notes of oak are soothing..
Definately a great buy, and again.

Delicious, full bodied liquor with a strong nose and aftertaste. It warms the mouth and throat

My husband and I visited Puerto Rico 7 years ago and bought the aged rum for Christmas presents. Everyone raves about the rum and want more. It was a rich taste, tingled the tongue, adding heat, forward tasting with a nose aroma and a rich flavor, with a strong after taste. I am a wine connoisseur so I am using that terminology to explain my taste of the rum. I would like to order more bottles so will wait until you can ship.

A pleasant, if simple, sipper that offers exceptional value for money.

Picked up a bottle for under $20 USD, and ended up with a steal. It's not a big rum, nor is it particularly complex, and the nose is very, very light. Despite this, it is still absolutely worth picking up. A very Highland malt like dry wood is the dominant note on the palate, with tobacco, dry fruit, and vanilla singing backup. Pleasantly spicy in the mouth, with a gently warming, if brief, finish.

The Bacardi 8 year would be acceptable, if a bit boring, at over twice the price. As it is, it offers exceptional value for money.
