Full and fruited. Spices, mature.
Good body, complex and poised. A lot going on! Focused around the interplay of oak, fruit and toasty spices.
Warming and long.
Considering this is a 15 year old rum I was very disappointed, just tastes like cheap rum. Definitely not a sipping rum and could get much better for this price
Very disappointed with this rum. Bit harsh and ended up drinking it with coke – not smooth enough for a sipping rum. Harsh and not much flavour. Had much better for the price. Wouldn’t buy it again.
Love the House of Barbancourt, so may be I am biased, but this is one beautiful rum. When your posh scotch drinkers are sitting around telling each other about the age of their scotch and the complexities, this rhum says back, two can play at that game. The beauty of this rhum is that it also tastes impeccable in a Ti Punch.
Very smooth with little to no burn and notes of caramel, pineapple, and a bit of spices
...so decant or at least pour 1/2 off into a spare bottle for 1-2 months or more, then come back to it. At $55-60 in the U.S., a moderate value but an exceptional sipping experience. Some air and time really takes the prominence off the wood and balances this excellent Bajan. Well-crafted, pure presentation - a rare thing in the current rum market. A staple on my shelf. Different, but equally enjoyable is the Mount Gay XO.
