An impressive rum from Angostura, made using the Trinidadian distillery's continuous multi-column still and aged in charred bourbon casks. This blend combines rums aged between five and 14 years and pays homage to a historic blend developed by the Fernandes family in the 1800s. The name 1919 is also a tribute to a bit of Trinidadian rum history – following a catastrophic fire at its government rum bond in 1932, hundreds of rather charred casks of the Fernandes family blended rum that had been filled in 1919 were salvaged from the ashes, resulting in an unrepeatable batch that is reported to have been exquisite!
*UK (excluding Channel Islands) and retail only. Offer from 13 06 2025, while stock lasts.
Rich and spiced. Cola, toasty oak. Vanilla spice and caramel. Plenty of ginger and molasses.
Juicy, sweet. Allspice, caramel, creamy vanilla. Molasses.
It finishes on vanilla cream, rounded and spiced.
This is a decent rum for the price
Bought on offer and very pleased with the deal. Delicious sipping rum, smooth and subtle. Evocative of a long ago happy holiday.
I purchased 2 bottles of this when it was previously on special offer and for the price then, based on value-for-money, I may have gone with 3.5 Stars. Unfortunately, I found there was a rather unpleasant 'antiseptic' flavour that lingered well into the 'finish'. I have no idea how it may perform in cocktails, as I only sip my rums neat and in my opinion, this is not a sipper. Sorry guys, this struggles to get 3 Stars!
I bought two bottles of this at the start of July when it was on Flash Sale and at that price, I guess it was worth the money. However, there is a definite 'chemical' taste which I can't quite place. I do not do cocktails and only sip my rums neat, so have to say that in my opinion, this is not a good sipping rum. I am currently mixing it with a blended Bajan XO rum containing Foursquare and WIRD rums, from a major UK food retailer at £28, around 50/50 , then it becomes an acceptable sipper.
This will be used in the hipflask as something just to swig. No thrills, very smooth though but I need a bit more than this can offer.
